1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SnapCaption.app (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access the Service.

2. Description of Service

SnapCaption.app provides a free sports roster file generator designed for photographers using Photo Mechanic, GalleryID Desktop and similar IPTC metadata editing software. The Service allows users to generate TSV (tab-separated values) roster files for captioning sports photography. The Service is free to use.

3. User Accounts

An account is not required to use the core roster builder. If you choose to create a free account, you are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use

4. Free Access

SnapCaption is free to use. All features are available at no cost — no trial periods, no paywalls. We reserve the right to modify, limit, or discontinue features at any time with or without notice. In the event the Service is discontinued entirely, no obligation to provide continued access shall exist.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Share your account credentials with others
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
• Use automated systems, bots, scrapers, or scripts to access the Service or its data
• Perform bulk or systematic downloading of roster data
• Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service using any automated means
• Redistribute, resell, or sublicense the Service or its data
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code from the Service
• Overload, flood, or interfere with the Service infrastructure

6. No Exclusivity

The output formats (TSV files), user-interface patterns (drop-downs, column selectors), and shortcode conventions used by the Service are industry-standard practices common to sports photography workflows. SnapCaption claims no exclusive right over these formats, conventions, or general concepts. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from independently building tools that generate roster files or use similar workflows.

What is protected is SnapCaption’s proprietary source code, server-side logic, algorithms, and compiled software. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or extract the Service’s code or internal implementation.

7. Prohibited Automated Access

Any automated access to the Service — including but not limited to web scraping, data harvesting, API abuse, headless browser access, or bot-driven requests — is strictly prohibited without prior written authorization. Violations may result in immediate IP blocking, account termination, and potential legal action.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service’s original source code, server-side logic, algorithms, design, and branding are owned by SnapCaption.app and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.

Roster data is compiled from publicly available sources for the purpose of generating code replacement files. Users retain full ownership of any custom codes, templates, or shortcode sets they create.

9. Data Accuracy & Disclaimer

We make every effort to maintain accurate and up-to-date roster information by syncing with publicly available team sources. However, we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any roster data provided through the Service. Roster information may contain errors, omissions, or outdated entries.

Users are responsible for independently verifying any information that is critical to their work. SnapCaption shall not be held liable for any damages, losses, missed deadlines, or incorrect photo captions resulting from inaccurate or incomplete roster data.

10. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

In no event shall SnapCaption.app, its directors, employees, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Service, including damages arising from reliance on roster data.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. This includes any form of unauthorized automated access or data scraping.

12. Donations

SnapCaption may provide links to donate to charitable organizations. These donations are made directly to the respective charity and are not processed by or associated with SnapCaption. SnapCaption does not receive any portion of charitable donations.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
