Leagues Cup 26 roster files

Leagues Cup 26 roster files for Photo Mechanic and GalleryID Desktop

The mistake that costs you a caption in this tournament is using a league roster. A club's registered Leagues Cup squad is not the same list as its MLS or Liga MX roster, and the difference is exactly the players who cannot take the field. SnapCaption builds from the official registered tournament rosters, for Photo Mechanic and GalleryID Desktop.

What makes Leagues Cup 26 rosters painful by hand

Every sport breaks a roster file in its own way. These are the ones that bite in Leagues Cup 26.

The registered squad is not the league roster

Eligibility for the tournament is its own registered list. Building from a league roster puts players in your file who are not available, which is worse than having no file.

Two leagues, two naming conventions

MLS and Liga MX clubs meet in the same bracket, and the club-name conventions differ between them. Both sides come from one tournament source rather than two league sources you have to reconcile.

A short tournament with no prep window

The bracket moves quickly and pairs clubs you were not expecting. Pulling a squad file the day before is realistic; hand-building two is not.

One file, both applications

The export is not locked to one program. The same Leagues Cup 26 roster file loads into Photo Mechanic and into GalleryID Desktop, with identical shortcodes either way.

Photo Mechanic

Edit > Settings > Set Code Replacements > Load, then pick the file. The shortcodes are live in the caption fields immediately.

Code Replacement is the name Camera Bits, Inc. gives the feature in Photo Mechanic's own documentation, which is why this file is often called a code replacement roster file.

GalleryID Desktop

Attach the same file as a roster and the identical shortcodes expand while you caption. Nothing about the export changes.

GalleryID Desktop goes further than shortcodes — it identifies athletes by facial recognition and writes the names into the photo, so there is no code to type at all. See GalleryID Desktop

What a shortcode looks like

You type
h11
The caption field shows
Marcus Cole, #11, Midfielder, Riverdale Wolves

The h is the prefix you assigned the home club, 11 the shirt number. Both clubs go in one file with separate prefixes, drawn from the registered tournament squads.

What goes in your Leagues Cup 26 file

You choose the columns. The export is a tab-separated file, so anything that reads a tab-delimited roster can use it.

  • Full name, first name and last name as separate columns if you want them
  • Shirt number written as 11, #11 or (11)
  • Position as an abbreviation, lowercase, or title case
  • Club name and competition grouping
  • Long-form caption strings, for example: Marcus Cole #11 of the Riverdale Wolves

Leagues Cup 26 roster file questions

How is this different from an MLS or Liga MX file?

It is built from the official registered tournament rosters rather than league rosters, so the squad matches who is actually eligible for Leagues Cup rather than who is on the club's league roster.

How do I load it into Photo Mechanic?

In Photo Mechanic, go to Edit > Settings > Set Code Replacements, click Load, and select the file. GalleryID Desktop attaches the same file as a roster and expands the identical shortcodes.

Are both MLS and Liga MX clubs included?

Yes. All participating clubs from both leagues are available from this one tournament selection.

How are accented club and player names handled?

Names are folded to US-ASCII on export so they pass cleanly through Photo Mechanic and out to the wires.
